On the Creative Act

I wanted to like this book, I really did, but I couldn’t. It’s stylish, the prose is genuinely good, but there’s little substance underneath. There are a few good nuggets; the author has good things to say about sincerity and inconsistency in one of the final chapters, but not enough to save it. It’s very Instagrammable, and I’m sure the Bookstagram and BookTok crowd loves it; it has the same energy as Rupi Kaur, honestly, though I liked her work more.
